  1. This collar kept shocking our dog after he stopped barking and starting yelping in pain and fright. This collar and all similar collars are supposed to stop after a short period to prevent the collar from continuing to shock in reaction to the dog yelping in pain. After the collar continued to shock our dog for over 30 seconds, my wife panicked and tried to get the collar off. The collar kept shocking her and the dog and our dog bit her. Our dog had never bitten anyone before in his 7 year life. If my wife had been bitten more severely, we would sue the manufacturer.

Well for starters the product works when it is on my dog but as soon as it’s off she doesn’t care about how much she barks. The collar basically taught her another way to be annoying!! Once the collar is taken off its right back to the same routine. She barks, I put the collar back on her and she no longer barks but then whines continuously because it doesn’t shock when she does that!! Although when she barks it does shock her like it says it will but when she gets shocked she yelps which then causes her to continue to get shocked and solves NOTHING. So unless your dog is smarter than mine I don’t think you should waste your time, money or effort. My dog is actually whining right now as I’m submitting this review because the collar is on and she wants out of her crate! Overall I guess the product does exactly what it states. It controls the dogs barks while the collar is on. But that’s about it. You would think it would train the dog to understand barking all together for no reason at all is wrong but apparently I set myself up for disappointment with that idea. Thanks for nothing Petsafe!!!!

I have used another PetSafe bark control collar in the past, not the deluxe version, and they work great. Purchased this one and had a heck of time getting it to work. Found out the battery was about dead. If it wasn’t for the battery I would have rated this a 5 star item.

Well, the vibration sensitivity makes this thing a little too iffy about when it shocks. I have had the older one too, and it was like strapping a pair of jumper cables to my dog. Which was fine. This vibrating false alarm thing is a double edged sword-it may prevent false “corrections” (aka-minor electrocutions!), but sometimes it doesnt go off when it should. I think it confused my dog more than anything else-he barks constantly anyways (never get a hound dog. Ever. Even if he’s free.) but you can tell when the thing finally kicks in when the bark turns more to a long yelp.

I know the description says something like “static correction” or “deterrent”. It’s a shock collar, no matter what they wanna call it. If you put this on your dog, it will shock it.

The batteries last half as long in this as the older one.

The actual collar is junk. You spend 80 bucks for a shock collar, and when you get is the shock box (which is fine), screwed to a collar that would cost you about 2 dollars at a pet store. I redid it with a better collar.
